Why Trust Bekins Appliances and Electronics?

There is no doubt that having a washer and dryer in your home is the epitome of convenience. LG offers affordable, high-quality laundry appliances for any household, with options for smaller spaces and DIY laundry closets. In fact, an LG washer ranks at the top of our 5 best front-loading washer list.

The best way to add laundry facilities to your current home is to get stackable laundry that can be installed in a small closet. Turning a closet into a laundry facility is not expensive, and appliances that fit within that space are affordable.

However, it is important to get the right stackable washer and dryer for your space and needs. Stacked laundry towers are also available for the smallest spaces. Here is how to choose the right LG washer and dryer stackable for laundry closets.

Types of LG Stackable Washer and Dryer Configurations

Many people confuse stacked laundry with stackable laundry pairs. The biggest difference is that LG wash towers are made in one piece, while stackable laundry pairs are freestanding units with the ability to stack them for smaller laundry areas.

LG Stackable Washer and Dryer

Stackable laundry pairs are actually freestanding appliances with the ability to stack them to save space. When LG washers and dryers are listed as stackable, it means that you can put the dryer on top of the washer. However, not all washers and dryers can be stacked. Talk to our experts at Bekins to make sure you’re getting the right appliances for the right space.

Regarding space, the LG stackable washer and dryer dimensions are on the small side of standalone laundry appliances, with widths of about 27 inches and a depth of about 32-34 inches. When stacked they are small enough to occupy about the same space as a stacked laundry tower, although you will need a few extra inches at the back of the depth to accommodate hoses and spigots.

LG Tower Washer and Dryer Stacked Laundry Details

Like other stacked laundry appliances, the LG wash tower is one solid appliance. Traditional stacked laundry included an electric or gas dryer over a top-loading washer, with space between for airflow. Today’s stacked laundry from LG follows the frontloading trend, offering the convenience and ease of frontloading machines without the bulk.

Stacked laundry towers like these are about the same width as standard LG washers and LG dryers, but they are not as deep. Many of the LG wash towers are 27 inches wide and just over 30 inches deep. They reach a height of about 6 ½ feet, but the frontloading dryer door is easily accessible. LG wash tower reviews make it clear that these machines are best for couples and independent living, and they have a larger capacity than traditional designs.

Benefits, Pros, and Cons of LG Stackable Washer Dryers

The biggest benefit of LG stackable washer dryers is that they have a similar capacity to full-size laundry appliances but take up less space. When you don’t have space for a full laundry room, building a laundry closet or converting an existing closet is an affordable and convenient option.

Other washers and dryers might be lightweight enough to stack, but that doesn’t mean they are stackable. LG washer and dryer stackable appliances are not only lightweight, but they are also designed to reduce vibration that might dislodge the dryer from the stack. Stacked washers and dryers require additional hardware not suitable for models not intended to be stacked.

The best thing about LG stackable washer dryers is that they are available with a front-loading design. In the past, all stacked laundry towers had a front-loading dryer and a top-loading washer. This created machines with smaller capacities. While today’s units may not pack the capacity of freestanding washers and dryers, the frontloading design means you can have bigger loads with stackable laundry.

Features and Technology Used in LG Stackable Washers and Dryers

LG stackable washers and dryers offer the same features and technology you would expect from the LG brand. Both the stackable washers and dryers and the LG wash tower are smart appliances. They have Wi-Fi capability and can be integrated into a smart home. LG wash towers also have an AI feature that tells the dryer what setting to use based on the wash load.

Furthermore, LG has some proprietary tech that is included in all of their laundry pairs and stacked laundry machines. Turbo Wash is a feature that helps remove stains and heavily soiled clothing. Turbo Steam on LG dryers allows you to dry clothes quickly, remove wrinkles in a pinch, or clean more delicate clothing.

Important Things to Know About Installing an LG Stackable Washer Dryer

Installing laundry facilities in your home requires much more than designating a closet, buying the appliances and installation accessories, and plugging in your new washer and dryer to an electrical outlet. It is important to understand what is involved so that you are ready when the new laundry appliances arrive.

Here is what you need to know before buying your LG stackable washer and dryer set.

What is Required to Install LG Stackable Washers and Dryers?

What you need to install stackable laundry appliances depends on the type of stacked laundry and whether the dryer is gas or electric. A laundry closet must have a dryer vent to the outside, spigots for water access, and electrical outlets for both washer and dryer.

A gas line is required for gas dryers, but electric should be considered. If you already have a laundry closet and it has a gas line, you may need to extend it with additional piping to reach the gas dryer once it is stacked.

Most importantly, you need the right hardware to stack your LG washer and dryer. Make sure you tell your salesman at Bekins that you will be stacking the washer and dryer so that they give you the appropriate hardware. Bekins delivery professionals can also use the hardware to stack the washer and dryer for you.

Minimum Space Required

It’s important to know how much space you need to accommodate your washer and dryer. LG wash tower dimensions are a bit smaller than stackable laundry pairs. If you previously had a stacked laundry tower, you may need to stick with that design to make the laundry closet work for you.

At a minimum, laundry closets should be at least 36 x 36 inches. This gives you about 4 inches on either side for airflow, as well as about 4-6 inches at the back of the closet to accommodate hoses and ventilation. If the closet isn’t quite deep enough for an LG stackable washer and dryer set, you may be able to remove the door and jamb of the closet so that you can pull them further away from the wall.

Remember that Bekins delivery professionals can install the appliances but will not prepare the laundry closet for installation.

More Stacked Laundry Installation Tips

There are a few other things you should keep in mind when choosing a washer and dryer to stack in a small laundry closet.

  • Opt for an electric dryer. If you’re building a laundry room and have the choice, electric dryers are more efficient.
  • Make sure you have appropriately installed electrical outlets. A standard outlet used for a lamp is not the right type for washers and dryers. These outlets should be installed by a professional, who may need to upgrade your electrical system to handle the additional load.
  • Hire a professional to build your laundry closet and install the necessary utilities. There are DIY laundry closet tutorials out there galore, but that doesn’t make it a good idea.

When your space is ready, it’s time to start shopping for your new washer and dryer.
